Originally from Antigo, Wisconsin, Dave attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 1981. While at the university, he met and married his wife, Lisa. She graduated with a degree in finance and accounting and recently retired after owning and operating the local Allstate Insurance agency for the last 21 years. Lisa now serves as the Strobel Insurance Agency accountant.
After graduation, Dave started his insurance career with Prudential insurance. Dave then spent the next 17 years running an Allstate agency. Finally, in July of 2000, Dave founded the Strobel Insurance Agency, an independent agency representing many top-rated companies.
The agency has grown over the years with the addition of his son Eric in 2012 and several agency acquisitions. Eric became a shareholder in the agency in 2023 as the agency makes plans for a smooth transition in the future. The agency currently has a great staff of 6 who work hard to ensure the agency’s customers are their top priority.
Strobel Insurance Agency is located in a historic building that Dave purchased and renovated in a revitalized downtown Eau Claire. The offices offer convenient off-street parking, with a private lot directly behind the building.
Over the years, Dave has been active in his community, trying to give back and make Eau Claire a better place to live, work and play.
He has served on the YMCA childcare committee, served as president of the YMCA Marlins swim team, and coached many of his children’s youth sports teams over the years.
In 1997 he was elected as a charter member of the Eastside Hill Neighborhood Association and served 12 years, the last three as neighborhood president.
In 2011 he was appointed to the city of Eau Claire’s’ plan commission, and in 2013 he was elected to the Eau Claire City Council, where he served 2 -three-year terms and was involved in many decisions that have contributed to the revitalization of downtown Eau Claire. He did not run for re-election in 2019 so he could dedicate more time to his business and family.
Dave is also an active member of the Downtown Business Improvement District, a member of the Eau Claire area Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Eau Claire Inc, and the Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin.
He enjoys working on his home and at his cabin and spending time with his children, Ashley and Eric, and their families. He especially enjoys spending time with his four grandchildren, Evelynn, Ryker, Brady, and Owen.
He truly values the relationships he has developed with his many customers and appreciates their trust in him and his staff, to make sure their assets are protected.
